A Flash Mob is a group of people who appear out of nowhere to perfom a show. Events like this create an amazing buzz due to their nature of “amusing and confusing” the surrounding people. Just as suddenly as it appeared it disperses.

“And poof. Just like that, they’re gone” – The usual suspects

Do you remember the Shim Sham Flash Mob promotion videos I posted recently?

Here is a video of the outcome :

And guess what: the organizer of that event, Corina from Montreal, has just prepared a homepage dedicated to help YOU create your own Flash Mob.

Go to:  http://sites.google.com/site/flashmobtutorial/

On this page you’ll find the tutorials and checklists – all for free!

Let’s shim sham flash mob! Oh, and when you do, post the videos on her site!

Special recommendations

by Ali Taghavi

Let me showcase some amazing people and their contributions to the swing dance community.

Andrew Sutton’s News Threads:

Here is one in particular that I enjoyed a lot: “Common Mistakes Dance Teachers Make” ( http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=53463889011&topic=15112&utm_source=SmoothSavoy+with+Andrew+Sutton+Newsletter&utm_campaign=d2b4db73de-Newsletter_4-6_3_2010&utm_medium=email). In this post, Andrew points out several important ways teachers can improve their skills. It’s an ongoing conversation with many interesting dancers from all around the world.

Rhythm Juice - www.rhythmjuice.com

by Dax Hock

Dax is one of my biggest influences when it comes to dance technique. I believe his understanding of the dance and love of sharing it will continue to make a HUGE impact on the entire swing dance community.  I subscribed to his online community “Rhythm juice” as a premium member a couple of months ago, and I can tell you, especially if you  teach swing dancing, this is a fantastic resource to improve both your and your students’ dancing.

I highly recommend you explore it for yourself.

www.justswing.it

by Morris Vespignani, Francesca Romagnoli

Just today, I was contacted by Francesca to announce their new platform for swing dancers. I signed up and took a look inside. Although it’s very new with currently little information, it is a very professionally made platform with great potential to support the swing dance community. If you have a dance school, or run an event, or are a traveling teacher, you can fill in your information so that other swing dancers can find you. I am not sure yet about all the future services they will be able to provide, but I am hoping to find out more in an interview.

One more “vote” for the road!

June 7, 2010

Hey guys,
Today at 24:00 they are closing the voting system. What we thought was the ranking (the youtube “like” numbers) was actually not the official ones. So we have no idea what ranking we have.
But, as I know that many of you voted several times, I am positive that we have a good chance [...]
